WATCH: McLaren set new F1 pit stop record with spectacularly quick tyre change in Qatar

Not only did McLaren bag a double podium finish for the second race weekend in a row at the Qatar Grand Prix, but they also left the Lusail International Circuit with a new pit stop record thanks to a rapid service from the papaya crew.

In a race featuring several tyre-related safety measures that led to more pit stop action than usual, McLaren turned around Lando Norris’ car on Lap 27 in a scarcely believable time of 1.80 seconds.

It edged out the previous record of 1.82 seconds, set by Red Bull and Max Verstappen during the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, despite the size of cars and tyres having increased since then under the latest F1 ruleset.
